Big News: I will be spending a year in Ireland to study Theatre and Performative Practices

Hey there, here’s the official announcement:
TL; DR: this September, I will be moving to Ireland for a year to study Theatre and Performative Practices at University College. Cork.
Full Announcement: I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Ireland to get an MA in Theatre and Performative Practices. Classes start this September.
My interest is primarily looking at theatre and performance as social justice work. Specifically, my hope is to concentrate on my interests in comedy as activism. It’s something that I became aware of in my work at Seattle University (and still is to an extent, as I’ve been facilitating their Arts Leadership book clubs). However, most of my work there has been from the perspective of a facilitator or administrator.
Now, I have a chance to develop my work as an artist.
It’s exciting, it’s scary, it’s hopeful, and a little heartbreaking (I won’t be able to bring my partner with me). At the same time, I have every confidence that this is my next step in my path, which ultimately will lead back to Seattle and the wonderful arts community that I’ve found here.
Which takes me to my second announcement:
While I have been awarded a partial scholarship and have other ways that I am looking to finance this adventure, I could use some help. For most of my life, I’ve been someone who encourages others to lean on their community for support. At the same time, when it’s come to my own needs and hopes, I’ve been a rather isolationist, as in “I won’t burden others by communicating a need”.
So, now I’m trying something new, which also makes me a little vulnerable - I’m inviting help.
If any of you have desire, and the expendable resource, to be a part of this journey, I have set up a GoFundMe. Any money generated by this will absolutely go to pay for things like tuition, housing, possible health insurance, transportation, food, supplies, or even a chance for my partner to come and visit (so that I can see him at least once while I do this).
To be clear, this will happen whether folks are able to contribute. I am determined to see this through for my own artistic growth as well as my ability to expand my repertoire to elevate both process and product, when it comes to devising, creating, and presenting performance. If I must spend a year surviving on dry cereal and tap water, I will still do this.
Of course, if you don’t have the ability to share resources, there is no shame. If all you have is a simple “good luck”, I will take that and treasure it as I go on this wild adventure.
I’ve added the link to my GoFundMe here. Additionally, if folks decide to donate, I have included some special ways I will acknowledge, based on the amounts. It’s not a bribe, it’s just my way of thanking individuals for their support.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. Here we go!
